Sources Policy

Belgium Connection cites sources when a reader would reasonably need to verify a changing fact, a local institution, or information controlled by an outside organization.

Which sources come first

For changing facts, the first choice is usually the organization responsible for the information: a public agency, official service, venue, manufacturer, research publisher, or other primary source. Reputable secondary sources are used when they add context that a primary source does not provide.

What a source is expected to support

  • A source should support the specific claim attached to it, not merely discuss the same broad topic.
  • Prices, availability, specifications, rules, schedules, and similar details are omitted when no reliable source supports the current wording.
  • Stable advice and editorial judgment do not receive decorative citations simply to make a page look researched.

Sensitive or high-stakes information

Medical, financial, legal, immigration, and similarly sensitive topics are kept general unless suitable authoritative information is available. Readers should verify personal decisions with the relevant professional or official source.

When a guide uses external sources, the relevant links are shown so the supporting material can be checked directly.
